Pasco Deputy Suicide, Death – Deputy Takes Own Life Outside Palm Harbor

Pasco Deputy Death –  An off-duty Pasco County sheriff’s deputy died Saturday after a shooting in Palm Harbor, according to the information provided. The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.

Deputies responded to 37100 U.S. 19 North at about 2:37 a.m. on October 24, 2026, following multiple 911 calls. They found 30-year-old David Greis Ospina inside a vehicle with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. First responders attempted lifesaving measures and took him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators said Ospina and a woman, who is also a Pasco County deputy, had attended a Halloween party earlier that evening before going to Silks Gentleman’s Club in Palm Harbor.

The two reportedly became involved in an altercation in the parking lot and entered Ospina’s truck. Detectives said Ospina then pointed a handgun at the woman before turning it on himself. She left the vehicle and alerted people at the business, who called 911.
Ospina had worked for the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office since July 15, 2019. His next of kin has been notified. The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Robbery & Homicide Unit is continuing its investigation.
