Ryan Bresnan Death, Obituary – The Severna Park High School community is mourning the death of 14-year-old freshman Ryan Beales, who died Thursday night after being critically injured in a crash on Robinson Road. Ryan was a new student at the school, and his death has left classmates, friends, family, and staff grieving.
According to Anne Arundel County Police Department spokesperson Marc Limanski, officers responded at about 7:15 p.m. Wednesday to a collision involving a Dodge Ram pickup truck and an E-moto-style bike.
The bike was traveling south from the B&A Trail onto Robinson Road when it was struck broadside by the truck, which was traveling east. Ryan was taken to the hospital in critical condition and died the following evening.
On Friday after school, students and community members gathered near the intersection to hold a vigil in Ryan’s memory. His older sister, Sophie Bresnan, joined them and thanked those who had shown the family support. She said she hopes people remember Ryan for the things he loved and the way he spent his time.
Ryan enjoyed taking things apart and rebuilding them. Sophie recalled that he customized his bike, built his own computer and monitor, and loved fishing. “He was just like always doing something,” she said.
Friends also remembered Ryan as kind, caring, and a source of happiness. Freshman Austin Machovec described him as a sweet, loving person who was there for others. Classmate Robert Wooten said that being around Ryan brought joy.
Severna Park High School’s principal sent a letter to parents informing them of the tragedy and the support available to students and staff. Anne Arundel County Public Schools spokesperson Bob Mosier said the school community was coming together to help children and staff cope with the loss.
He added that additional counseling and other resources would remain available for as long as they were needed.
Ryan’s death has deeply affected the Severna Park community. His family, friends, and classmates will remember his creativity, generosity, and the happiness he brought to those around him.
Our condolences go to everyone grieving his loss.
